causedbythecombinationofconvectionwithexplosivehydrogenburningwhichresultsinauniquenucleosynthesisthatisrichinodd-numberednucleisuchas15N,17Oand13C.Thesenucleiaredi culttoforminotherastrophysicalevents.Manyoftheproton-richnucleiproducedinnovaoutburstsareradioactive,o eringthepossibilityofdirectobservationwithγ-rayinstruments.Potentiallyimportantγ-rayproducersinclude26Al,22Na,7Beand18F.
